Cristiano Ronaldo broke Pelé’s goal record, but not everyone was as excited about the Portuguese’s performance.
It was a historic night for Ronaldo when Juventus won 3-1 over Cagliari in Sunday’s Serie A clash in Sardinia.
The Portuguese star scored all of Juventus’ goals and now stands with 770 goals in his professional career.
As a result, he broke the goal record of the Brazilian legend Pelé who was 767 goals.

After the match, Ronaldo was also hailed by the Brazilian who posted a post on Instagram.

Cursed club president
However, Cagliari’s club president Rommaso Giulini was not as excited after Sunday’s match.
The club president was furious and thought Ronaldo should never have had the opportunity to score a hat trick.

In an interview with Sky Italia after the match, Giulini says that he thinks Ronaldo should have been sent off at the position 1-0 when he went into a duel with Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno.
The incident Giulini refers to happened only 12 minutes into the match. Ronaldo tried to reach a cross in front of goal, but instead ended up planting parts of his foot in the face of Cragno.
Guilini says he is disappointed with his own players’ performance against Juventus, but there was one thing that made him even more annoyed.
“Above all, I am upset that Ronaldo was not sent off as that incident could have changed the whole match,” Guilini said.

While a bleeding Cragno received treatment, the referee only chose to give Ronaldo a yellow card for the incident.
It makes the Cagliari president furious.
– It’s a dangerous game. He puts our goalkeeper in danger and should be given a red card. That is what is written in the rule book, says Guilini.

At that point in the match, Ronaldo had already sent Juventus into the lead, but put on to both 2- and 3-0 before it was played 33 minutes.
Giovanni Simeone reduced the deficit after 61 minutes, as a result of Cagliari’s awkward, but ultimately successful, shot from the right.
Juventus is now in 3rd place in Serie A with 55 points.
