Actually, if you look at the results of the draw, Cristiano Ronaldo and his colleagues are predicted to top the Group H standings. However, Fernando Santos doesn’t think like that.

Fernando Santos believes that the Portugal national team is included in a group that has equal strength. The reason is, he is not too familiar with the games of Ghana and South Korea, and only knows the playing style of Uruguay, which was their opponent in the last 16 of the 2018 World Cup.
“There are no easy or difficult groups, but this time we will face teams from three different continents. With anticipation, I see this is a balanced group,” said Fernando Santos quoted from the official website of the Portuguese Football Federation, Saturday (2/4/2022).
“We can see the glass is half full or half empty. If we look at the previous World Cups, Uruguay will be the favourites. If we look at the rankings, then Portugal is the favourite. But, we can’t forget Ghana and South Korea who have very strong teams,” continued the former Sporting Lisbon coach.
You could say Uruguay will be Portugal’s toughest opponent because it has a composition of players who have had many careers in Europe such as Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani. However, Ghana and South Korea are also slick with a number of famous names in the Blue Continent who are in their squad, such as Andre and Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Son Heung Min and Hwang Hee-chan.
