Football star Cristiano Ronaldo was the first person to break the 250 million follower mark on Instagram. Rival Lionel Messi is clearly left behind.
In the FIFA election for footballer of the year 2020, the Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo had to give way to the Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski in December. The professional footballer currently playing at Juventus Turin has secured a trophy – Ronaldo is the first person to have more than 250 million Instagram followers.
Ronaldo on Instagram: millions of fans
Ronaldo celebrated reaching the record mark on his account with the words: “What an incredible number !!! Thank you all, you’re part of this journey! ”The counter now has 251 million followers. Ronaldo has already posted almost 3,000 posts on Instagram. Every posting now receives several million likes and several thousand comments.
By the way, there is an account that has more followers than the record holder Ronaldo, namely Instagram himself. However, it does not count as an individual account. In this area, few other Instagram users currently come close to Ronaldo’s follower numbers. US singer Ariane Grande (214 million followers) and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (209 million followers) currently have more than 200 million followers rtl.de reports.

Messi, Neymar and Lewandowski clearly back
Long-term rival Lionel Messi is clearly behind Ronaldo in terms of Instagram followers. The Argentine in the service of FC Barcelona has around 177 million followers. Brazil’s superstar Neymar has collected 144 million Instagram followers to date. And Robert Lewandowski? The Polish striker of FC Bayern has 20.3 million followers on Instagram.
