Partner of Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Juventus, Morata believes that the Portuguese’s winning mentality has carried him throughout his career.
Alvaro Morata has worked with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and Juventus, with the Spain international comparing the winning mentality of one of the greatest players of all time to tennis legend Rafael Nadal.
The constant pursuit of perfection has taken the Portuguese icon to the top, with five Ballons d’Or and as many Champions League crowns.
Remarkable standards which have been maintained throughout a record-breaking career, and Morata would place the 36-year-old in a pool of sporting talent alongside Spanish superstar Nadal, who is only a year younger and continues to be looking for new trophies from a list of already 20 Grand Slam titles.
Morata told Onda Cero that he played alongside Ronaldo: “He’s the one who scores goals because he’s our best player. He does everything to win personal and club titles. He has a high-level mentality, similar to that of Rafa Nadal. I admire him and I love to play near him. “
Morata and Ronaldo will they be teammates next season?
Morata has just completed a one-season loan year at Juventus. He is due to return to the club he still has a contract with, Atletico Madrid, but Goal has learned that another option and a new one-year loan are being considered with the Bianconeri.
That deal has yet to be put in place, with the 28-year-old hesitant to make definitive statements on where he will play in 2021-2022.
Morata, who admits that “it would be nice to be coached by Diego Simeone again”, added: “It is not me who chooses, they will tell me where I will play.
“If they gave me the choice between two teams, I would say Atletico and Juventus. I don’t know what’s going to happen, I’ll play where they want me the most. “
While Morata appears destined to return to Turin, it remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will still be around as the 36-year-old approaches the final 12 months of his contract.
