Cristiano Ronaldo is grateful to his parents for his childhood

Cristiano Ronaldo (39) is one of the world stars in the football world today. He has always worked hard to get to the top. But his past was particularly influenced by his parents Maria Dolores dos Santos Aveiro (69) and José Dinis Aveiro. How People reported, the two were a big reason why the kicker realized his big dreams. He thanks his parents for always believing in him and encouraging him to believe in his future plans.

Cristiano grew up on the Portuguese island of Madeira – his mother Maria was a cleaner and cook, while his father José worked as an outfitter for a local football club. It was there that the young Cristiano’s interest in sports was awakened. The 39-year-old did not have a good relationship with his father, who was battling alcohol, as he said in an interview with CNN revealed: “I really didn’t know my father 100 percent. I never spoke to him like you do in a normal conversation. It was really hard.” Nevertheless, he knew that his father would always support him. “He treated me incredibly. I was like the diamond of the family and he knew I would be a football player,” the player revealed. In 2005, his father died of alcohol-related liver failure at the age of 52.

His mother is still by the world star’s side. She has over 4.1 million followers on social media and shares many private insights into her family life. Instagram Kicker recently wrote: “My mother is always by my side without a doubt. I am very grateful and proud to be her son and to have her in my life.” On New Year’s Eve, the proud mother celebrated her birthday and received a brand new Porsche as a thank you from her son. His sister shared this moment online and commented lovingly: “If she is happy, it is because her son remembers her and not because of the value of the gift.”
