Portugal was eliminated by Morocco in the quarterfinals of Qatar 2022. The Europeans were surprised by the African team, who won with a solitary goal from Youssef El-Nesyiri. With this, Morocco have solidified themselves as the third semi-finalists of the World Cup and expect a rival between England and France.
Cristiano Ronaldo, captain and great figure of Portugal, came on as a substitute for the match and came on five minutes into the second half to try to equalise. The player had the goal in his way towards the end of the match, but had his shot saved by goalkeeper Bono, Morocco’s great figure.

Save after save, Bono managed to keep alive the hopes of the Africans, who achieved the feat of being the first team from that continent to reach a World Cup semi-final.
Cristiano Ronaldo crying
At the end of the game, all cameras focused on a single figure: Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portugal captain was quick to leave the pitch once his side were eliminated. The player left in the midst of an inconsolable cry.
Ronaldo went straight to the locker room, and in the tunnel he was filmed covering his face as he cried. CR7, who is already 37 years old, would hardly play in another World Cup, so Qatar 2022 was his last big chance to lift football’s most coveted trophy.
