“Cristiano Ronaldo impresses with his ability to convert even the most limited opportunities into goals,” said Stanislav Lobotka, expressing his confidence ahead of Slovakia’s next match against Portugal.
A month after the defeat against Portugal in the qualifying phase for Euro 2024, Slovakia is preparing to face the team led by Roberto Martínez again.
At a press conference, Lobotka said: “Playing for the national team is a different experience than playing for our clubs. Playing in Porto in front of many fans will be magnificent. We have nothing to lose in this match, we just have to aim for victory.”
He added : “We have the necessary assets, but we know it will not be an easy task. The Portuguese are formidable, playing at home, and will have the support of the public to push them into attack. Our goal is to capitalize on our opportunities and make the most of every opportunity.”
The Naples striker also paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo in these terms: “For me, Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world. He is extraordinary, capable of turning a half-hearted opportunity into a goal, he just needs to score to celebrate.”
Note that during the confrontation on September 8, Stanislav Lobotka played 77 minutes for Slovakia, which currently occupies second place in Group J with 13 points, five less than Portugal, which scored 24 goals and has none conceded none in six matches played.
