Cristiano Ronaldo honoured by UEFA as Champions League’s all-time top scorer

Cristiano Ronaldo has been officially recognised as the Champions League’s all-time top scorer. The prestigious award was presented to him by UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin during the Champions League draw at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.

Monaco, August 29, 2024.- At 39, the Portuguese forward has an impressive record of 140 goals in 183 games in this competition, ranking top scorer in seven separate seasons. He has won the Champions League five times: four times with Real Madrid and once with Manchester United. Ronaldo has also registered his name on the list of scorers in three finals, in 2008, 2014, and 2017.

At the ceremony, Aleksander Ceferin praised Ronaldo’s excellence, highlighting his relentless pursuit of titles, both individual and collective. “For over twenty years, he has continued to evolve, while maintaining a youthful passion for scoring goals and celebrating his achievements,” Ceferin said.

With an 11-goal lead over Lionel Messi, who has 129 goals, Ronaldo remains unmatched at the top of the Champions League scorers’ charts.
