Cristiano Ronaldo lives his longest period of scarcity for more than ten years. On Saturday, the Manchester United star has still not found the net. The Portuguese star was one of the most prolific goalscorers in the history of the sport, establishing himself as one of the most dominant players of all time.
But he has struggled in recent weeks with Manchester United and, after coming up short in the 1-1 draw with Southampton, he has not scored for six games.
The last goal of the Portuguese icon dates back to December 30, in a 3-1 win over Burnley. Since then he hasn’t scored in his six appearances, including five in the Premier League and Manchester United’s elimination from the FA Cup face à Middlesbrough.
Ronaldo, who scored 688 club goals throughout his illustrious career, hasn’t gone six games without scoring since 2009.
This series unfolded over the last few months of its first stint at Manchester United. Soon after, he joined Real Madrid, establishing himself as one of the best players in the history of the sport during his time in Spain.
Ronaldo returned to Manchester United this summer, joining his former club after a spell at Juventus. He scored 14 goals so farin all competitions, including six in five Champions League matches.
After Saturday’s draw, Manchester United ranks fifth in the Premier League. The next opportunity for Cristiano Ronaldo to end his drought will be against Brighton on Tuesday.
