Jorge Mendes is no longer Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent. The breakup was decided by the striker’s unrealistic expectations after his premature end at Manchester United, according to the second largest Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
The Portuguese super agent has been behind every contract the legendary gunner has signed over the last 12 years and there was no sign of the two men parting ways.
But that happened at the start of 2023 after Jorge Mendes failed to live up to Cristiano Ronaldo’s expectations following the end of his contract with Manchester United.
Journalists of El Mundo claim that the nearly 38-year-old footballer has turned to his agent with a request to arrange a transfer to London’s Chelsea or Germany’s Bayern Munich, which would also mean his return to the Champions League.
The owner of the management agency GestiFute considered the expectations of his compatriot unfulfillable, which led to the termination of their cooperation. Cristiano Ronaldo subsequently decided to accept the lucrative terms offered to him by the Saudi Arabian Al-Nassr.
Cristiano Ronaldo is contracted to the team until June 30, 2025, with a total salary that could reach up to 200 million euros per year.
