Argentinian Lionel Messiseven-time Ballon d’Or, won the title of best Fifa player of the year on Monday at “The Best” 2022 ceremony, thus beating his teammate Kylian Mbappe and the Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
The jury made up of coaches, captains, journalists as well as supporters around the world, was won over by the Argentinian World Cup, during which he notably registered 7 butshelping his country land a long-awaited third star.
If most of the captains of each selection have decided to vote, Cristiano Ronaldo has decided not to comply with the game. The captain of Portugal preferred to leave his vice captain and friend, Pepevote in his place.
Thus, the central defender of Porto, former teammate of CR7 at Real Madrid, voted for Mbappe in 1, Modric in 2 et Benzema in 3. Messi, the eternal rival of the five-time Portuguese Ballon d’Or, is therefore not part of Pepe’s top 3.
For his part, the winner of the evening and seven times Argentine Ballon d’Or voted for Neymar, Mbappe et Benzemawhile he had the possibility of placing himself in the top 3.
