Cristiano Ronaldo could definitely double the Brazilian King in the number of goals scored this Saturday against Verona.
At the beginning of last January, Cristiano Ronaldo believed he had passed Pelé and established himself as the third top scorer in football history with his 758th career goal. But, statisticians, and in particular those of the RSSSF (Rec Sport Soccer Statistics Foundation), quickly let him know that he still had a few units to catch up to match the Brazilian legend. The latter having finally accumulated 767 goals in official matches during his professional career.
Ronaldo not yet at the top
The fivefold Ballon d’Or totaled 765. There is therefore the possibility that he officially returns to the height of “O Rei” when Juve moves to Hellas Verona., this Saturday in Serie A. It is of course quite within his reach. He also remains on a double in the league achieved against Crotone.
Passing in front of Pelé, CR7 will then be able to tackle the absolute record, that held by the Czech Josef Bican. The latter would have put 805 pawns during the 1940s and 1950s. But here too, the count varies according to the sources. The Juve striker, however, knows what remains to be done to get everyone to agree and definitively end the debate on the best director in history.
