JEDDAH: Saudis have been preparing for weeks for a day of energetic celebrations to honor their rich heritage on Saturday, Saudi Arabia’s national day. As part of the National Day, sports clubs across Saudi Arabia are organizing special programs and celebrations that are appropriate to Saudi culture and history to introduce foreign players to the country’s traditions. Al Nasser Club celebrates the country’s National Day with its star player, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo took to social media to share an adorable photo and video of himself wearing a bisht (Saudi traditional dress) and shimag (headgear) with a sword. On the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s national day, a video shared on social media shows Senegal’s Sadio Mane and other stars joining in the celebrations.

Al Nasser Club led by Cristiano Ronaldo has many foreign players. The squad also features compatriot Ottavio, Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brosovic, Senegalese sensation Sadio Mane, Brazilian talent Anderson Talisca, teammate Alex Telles and Ivorian midfielder Sekou Fofana.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s commitment to embracing Saudi culture is not new. He previously attended the Saudi Foundation Day celebrations in February, wearing traditional Saudi clothing and even performing a half-Saudi dance. In preparation for the National Day celebrations, he has not only donned the Saudi Shimag (headscarf) but has also shown deep respect for Saudi traditions.

The exciting news is that Cristiano Ronaldo is set to become the ambassador for the upcoming Riyadh season. There is a museum dedicated to his life and achievements. Ronaldo joined Al Nasser Club at the age of 38. Ronaldo’s contract with Al Nasser club runs until the summer season of 2025 for €200 million per year. Ronaldo is currently leading the list of top scorers in the Saudi League with seven goals, surpassing his teammate Sadio Mane and Al Hilal star Salem Al Dosari’s record of six goals.
