Cristiano Ronaldo was shown the door by Manchester United in the autumn of 2022. Looking back, the Portuguese apparently sees no reason to question his performance at the English record champions.Cristiano Ronaldo celebrates his performances for Manchester United

In the summer of 2021, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United, where his star had risen in 2003 and where he won the Champions League for the first time, among other things. The ambitious goalscorer’s second visit to the Red Devils, however, was not crowned with success.

Although the former winger, who was converted into a centre-forward, still achieved notable individual successes, scoring 27 goals in a total of 57 appearances for the record champions, Ronaldo was denied a title in his second term at Manchester United.

Ronaldo never really warmed to coach Erik ten Hag either. Because CR7 publicly criticized his boss in autumn 2022 after he had benched him, the club pulled the ripcord and terminated the contract with the five-time world footballer.

The now 39-year-old has been winding down his career in Saudi Arabia since the beginning of 2023. Looking back on his time at United, Ronaldo apparently sees no mistakes of his own. In the podcast of his former teammate Rio Ferdinand, the Portuguese record international player praises himself to the skies.

“I was their top scorer,” boasts Ronaldo. “Even though I was already 37 years old, I was one of the two or three best scorers in the league. I scored in every game. I did incredible things,” the superstar is sure.

Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo has not yet made peace with ten Hag. The Saudi Pro League professional has already criticised the Dutchman several times – and now he has done so again.

As a United coach, you cannot say that you are not good enough to fight for the crown in Europe and England, Ronaldo explained in response to alleged quotes from the Dutchman. Instead, as a coach, you have to declare the goal of competing for all the titles, said Cristiano Ronaldo.
