Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to 200 caps, a milestone reached in the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers with Portugal, in Iceland, in June 2023, even offering himself for the occasion the winning goal in the 89th minute of play.
Ronaldo had already surpassed the previous European record held by Spaniard Sergio Ramos (180 caps) some time ago.
