While I am grateful for that, it is time to explain to you why I had never recognized this record before. To Edson Arantes do Nascimiento goes all my unconditional and perpetual admiration, as well as the one I have for mid-twentieth century football, so much so that I consider his record at 767 goals, given the 9 goals he scored in the team of the state of Sao Paulo , as well as the one he scored when he was on the Brazilian military team. The world has changed since then, as has football, but that doesn’t mean we have to bend history to our interests. Today I reached my 770th goal in my career as a professional, and my first words go straight to Pele.
