The Portuguese forward has finally touched down in Manchester after completing his transfer from Juventus.
Cristiano Ronaldo has arrived at Manchester United after completing a sensational move from Juventus before the close of the summer transfer window, a club statement has confirmed. The 36-year-old Portuguese superstar touched down in the United Kingdom on Thursday evening and was accompanied by his family.
Having completed his return to Old Trafford on the transfer deadline day Ronaldo, who was already in Lisbon, linked up with his international teammates ahead of Wednesday’s World Cup qualifying game with Ireland. His heroics in the night’s encounter has made headlines in the past few days after his two late goals that secured the win for the Seleccao finally made him the men’s all-time top goalscorer in world football.
The yellow card he received for removing his shirt during the goal celebrations meant that he will be ineligible to feature in Portugal’s next game against Azerbaijan due to the accumulation of yellow cards. His side subsequently released a statement confirming that he had been given permission to leave the camp for Manchester.
The player was received by his former Manchester United teammate and current technical director of the club Darren Fletcher at a private terminal. He is expected to isolate first due to Covid-19 protocol in the UK before linking up with the rest of the team to train for the Red Devils’ next Premier League clash which will see them welcome Newcastle to Old Trafford. On Thursday it was confirmed that the player will regain the iconic no.7 shirt he wore during his first spell at Old Trafford after Edinson Cavani agreed to hand it over to him.
