Cristiano Ronaldo and the water

He is the top scorer in the European Cup; It is about Cristiano Ronaldo, who when sitting in his position at a press conference, withdrew two bottles of Coca Cola with a firm and almost annoying body message. He looked at the bottles in disgust. Then he looked up as one who is looking for the person responsible or identity of who placed the soda there, and then, stretching his arm, he reached for a bottle of water. He raised it -like someone making a toast- and said: “water.”

In a few moments, and according to the stock market, the company lost a significant percentage for each share, reaching a loss in dollars of four billion.

On the other hand, the famous Portuguese soccer player has not missed an opportunity to talk about how important it is to have a healthy life, far from fat and excess sugar; basically away from sweetened sodas. Likewise, and just as famous, the European Cup sporting event has needed international sponsors with well-positioned brands, capable of paying, in exchange for advertising, the costs of holding the event. It is nothing new, it happens in almost all events and, without auspices, anything is difficult.

But what stands out here is the uniqueness of the character. Cristiano, according to the international sports press, is the number one scorer in European history, surpassing the French Platini, who scored up to nine goals. Today the Portuguese has eleven goals from twenty-two games; plus the four hundred and fifty goals of Real Madrid and many other conquests, he is almost the world king of football. A king who doesn’t want children, even his own, to drink sodas.

Why then put the bottles on his seat? Why not handle the patronage and the athlete’s own conviction with respect? How much more would the drink have paid to stay close to his image?

How good to know that there are people who do not put a price on their convictions! Good for that goal for money in exchange for integrity!
