Cristiano Ronaldo Admits Mistake Towards Al-Shabab Fans, Vows Not to Repeat – Read Full Apology and Suspension Details Here

Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted his obsessive gesture towards Al-Shabab fans was a “mistake” and vowed not to do it again after serving a suspension.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was suspended from the Saudi Pro League in February for his obscene gesture towards Al-Shabab fans, who chanted Lionel Messi’s name at the Portuguese striker after the 3-2 victory of Al-Nassr. He apologized but continued to defend his actions, saying the same thing would have gone unnoticed in Europe.

During a press conference, the former Real Madrid striker reiterated his position, while promising not to repeat this gesture. “ I will always respect the cultures of all countries, as I have done until today, but what people see is not always reality,” did he declare. “As I said and as I repeat, it is obvious that I will no longer do it in this country, but in Europe it is completely normal. Sometimes the passion and excitement of the game pushes us to make mistakes.”

Cr7 apologizes, but…

Due to the suspension, the former Manchester United player missed Al-Nassr’s 4-4 draw against Al-Hazm. Al-Nassr currently occupies second place in the championship, 12 points behind Al-Hilal, who appear to have clinched the title. Ronaldo has scored 22 goals in 21 league matches for Al-Nassr this season, but the team has not been consistent enough to climb to the top of the table.

The Portuguese captain will be in action again for Al-Nassr in a crucial second leg against Al-Ain in the Asian Champions League quarter-final. Al-Nassr will have to overcome a 1-0 deficit at Al-Awwal Stadium on Monday, March 11.
