BEYOND DEFEAT of Portugal in the round of 16 of Euro 2020, at the hands of Belgium 1-0, Cristiano Ronaldo has personal reasons to celebrate. In the first multi-site edition of the continental championship he became nothing less than the all-time top scorer.
“Thank you to everyone who helped me achieve another historic milestone!”, published this Monday on his official social networks, after finishing his fifth participation in the Euro, in which he finished as the top gunner with 5 points.
Cristiano equaled in number of goals with Czech Patrick Schick, with 5 annotations each, but the Portuguese made the difference and won the Golden Boot thanks to an assist which served to “tie the tie”.
Those goals allowed him to stand alone at the top of the table on a historical level: reached 14 points and left behind the nine that the mythical Frenchman Michel Platini accumulated.
