The Minister of European Funds, Cristian Ghinea, categorizes as “a shame” the fact that the special pensions in Romania are very high compared to the other pensions, but also the fact that there are pensioners who benefit from special pensions leaving work at a young age. He states that the future pension law will be sent to the Parliament next year, news.ro announces.
“We have two big problems with the pension system in Romania. One: it is not sustainable, in the sense that every year we have to move part of the money from the budget to cover the pension deficit, and two: it is not fair, there is a difference too high between small pensions and large pensions, not to mention special pensions, and then the direction we are going in this area, a new pension law to ensure long-term sustainability, no one says that in the short term, we need to do something right away, but we need to have a plan that means, first and foremost, that no more politicians come and promise pen-ups and that we, as a country, have a predictable increase in pensions, depending on some statistical indicators, depending on how expensive life is, for example, and on the other hand when we increase pensions to start with lower ones, we do not have to increase everyone proportionally. which are a shame after in my opinion, the way in which young people, in the power of work, retire, this is a shame, we must reduce them, we must link them to contributivity within the limits allowed by the Constitutional Court “, said Cristian Ghinea, on Monday evening, on TVR.
The Minister of European Funds specified that the future law that will reform the public pension system in Romania will be sent to the Parliament next year.
He explained that the pension reform appears in the PNRR in the conditions in which this plan involves reforms, but also in the context in which the country report for Romania referred, in recent years, to the pension system.
