The Electricity Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory Agency announced that the maximum load on the national electricity grid reached 32,900 megawatts yesterday, Friday, announcing that the maximum load on the grid reached 34,600 megawatts this evening, Saturday.
The agency added that there is a reserve increase in the available production today of 9 thousand 900 megawatts, indicating that loads have been reduced by 3000 megawatts at peak time.
Dr. Ayman Hamza, a spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, confirmed that the crisis of reducing the loads on the network is expected to end by cutting off the electric current to subscribers as a result of the lack of fuel, in the middle of this week, so that the national electricity grid will return to normal.
Hamza added, in exclusive statements to “The Seventh Day,” that the crisis of outages that the country is currently witnessing is due to the lack of fuel used in the production of electric power, revealing that the national electricity grid is capable of generating up to 48,000 megawatts, while the consumption of citizens does not exceed 36,000 megawatts.
Hamza added that there are no problems with the electrical network, especially since the electricity transmission network in Egypt is currently considered one of the strongest networks in the world, adding that there is a great demand from investors from all over the world to invest in the field of renewable energy in Egypt due to the strength of the electricity network and the development that took place in the network.
Hamza believes that rationalizing consumption is necessary and inevitable during these days to contribute to reducing the hours of outages resulting from lightening loads due to the lack of fuel, stressing that there is expected to be a decrease in loads as a result of the official holiday that began last Thursday and ends on Sunday.
