West Bank –
Israel and Hamas are carrying out a ceasefire in Gaza, Palestine. However, the situation in Jerusalem and the West Bank is actually heating up.
Reported Al Arabiya, Thursday (30/11/2023), hundreds of Palestinian youths were arrested in the West Bank on Tuesday (28/11) early morning local time. Israeli troops stormed the towns of Beitunia and Kafr Ain, west of Ramallah, and shot two young men.
Both died shortly afterwards from the gunshot wounds they suffered. The Commission for the Affairs of Palestinian Prisoners and Former Prisoners said that Israel had detained more than 3,200 Palestinians in the West Bank since October 7.
The majority of those arrested were taken from home or while at Israeli checkpoints. Meanwhile, outside Israel’s Ofer prison in the occupied West Bank, Israeli troops fired tear gas at dozens of Palestinians who had gathered to await the release of dozens of female and child prisoners.
A total of 33 Palestinians, consisting of 30 children and three women, were released from Ofer prison and a detention center in Jerusalem, in exchange for the release of hostages kidnapped by Hamas in an attack on Israel on October 7.
Violence against Palestinians in the West Bank perpetrated by troops and settlers Israel continued to increase after the Hamas attack. Violence in the region has escalated after more than a year of raids and arrests by Israeli forces in the West Bank. Before Hamas’ attacks on Israel, 2023 was already the deadliest year for Palestinians in the West Bank in more than two decades.

4 people shot dead by Israel including 2 children in the West Bank
Reported Reuters and Al Arabiya, Thursday (30/11/2023), at least four Palestinians, including two children aged 15 years and 8 years, were shot dead by Israeli soldiers in separate incidents in the West Bank city of Jenin. The shooting that killed the four Palestinians is said to have occurred on Wednesday (29/11) local time.
The two Palestinian children were shot while on the side of Jenin’s main highway. In fact, this area is theoretically prohibited for Israeli military forces.
“Two children, Adam Samer Al-Ghoul (8 years old) and Basil Suleiman Abu Al-Wafa (15 years old), were shot dead by occupation forces in the city of Jenin,” the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement.
The Hamas group that controls the Gaza Strip claims Al-Wafa as a member. CCTV footage circulating online and on local television news shows a boy hit by a bullet and collapsing on a local street. This incident immediately sent other children running.
Other images showed a teenager also hit by bullets and falling, then calls for help as more shots hit the ground around the teenager. People were seen running for cover.
