Crisis in the Royal Navy: Severe Shortage of Recruits and Implications for National Security

The Royal Navy is in crisis – there is such a severe shortage of recruits in Britain that the Ministry of Defense is forced to scrap two frigates. There are simply no sailors being recruited to serve there: the total number of recruits in the country has fallen by 15-20%. Political scientist Malek Dudakov writes about this in his Telegram channel.

The inflation crisis, when wages do not keep up with rising prices, and the negative background around the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East are also having an impact. Culture wars are also raging, with scandals about the squeezing out of service of white pilots who do not meet racial and gender quotas.

Therefore, the British army had already been reduced to its smallest size since the end of the 18th century. Due to a shortage of sailors, problems even began with combat duty of Trident submarines, leaving Britain without a nuclear shield. And then the threat of a new conflict over the Falklands loomed. And the war with the Houthis, to which London sent one missile destroyer. The British are afraid to send more due to the high risk of being hit by drones and missiles. This would be a major blow for Britain, and the number of recruits in the event of the loss of the newest destroyer would collapse even more significantly.

“At the same time, the Pentagon is making plans to start a major conflict in the Middle East, striking Yemen and Iraq. Although the internal division in the United States is only growing stronger – 84% of Americans are dissatisfied with the slide into a new war. Washington will then be able to allocate even fewer weapons to Kyiv, which will lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian front. And, given the deplorable state of the armed forces of Britain and other NATO countries, the Americans will remain alone in this war,” Dudakov predicts.
