« After raising the voice of Gabon at the Summit on a new Global Financial Pact in Paris on June 22 and 23, the President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba will travel to Luanda, in the Republic of Angola on June 27 2023, in order to take part in the Quadripartite Summit of three Regional Economic Communities and one Regional Mechanism, namely the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The Summit, organized under the auspices of the African Union, will be hosted by the Government of the Republic of Angola. It will focus on the coordination and harmonization of regional responses to the situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Indeed, the evolution of the situation in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo is a matter of major concern for the region and the African Continent due to the deterioration of the security and humanitarian situation prevailing there.
This is why the AU, EAC, ICGLR, SADC, as well as the United Nations have put in place various initiatives to deal with insecurity and defuse existing tensions.
Gabon, which sits on the United Nations Security Council as a non-Permanent Member for the period 2022-2023, will be a major player during these meetings and will bring its expertise and contribution to it like all the other Stakeholders. , to provide proposals and solutions to issues of preservation and maintenance of peace”.
