Libreville, December 11, 2023 (AGP) – Club officials this time denounced, last Sunday, the installation of Idriss Ibouaga by the president of the Gabonese Boxing Federation, as the new president of the league de l’Estuaire, a position previously occupied by Alain Otha, although elected last May.
“We note that Mr. Bonaventure Nzigou Manfoumbi installed a league president last week knowing that this same Estuaire league has a president, in the person of Alain Otha. We come here to say that this is too much, that a league president is not being imposed on us, since Alain Otha was voted in by all the clubs in the Estuary,” indicated the coach of the Boxing club. Who sees through this act, a way for the president of the federation, whose legitimacy he contests, a way of imposing on clubs and associations, an unelected president of the Estuaire league.
“The Estuary Boxing League now has two presidents at its head. We call on the authorities of the Ministry of Sports to look into this matter and take a broader look at the state of the discipline because boxing is no longer functioning normally,” he added.
“We scheduled galas and had a problem with the referees commission. We do not know the reason, but Mr. Manfoumbi gave instructions to all referees not to participate in events organized by the league,” for his part denounced the coach of the Academie boxe club, Cyrille Nzatsi.
