This year another presidential election takes place at Corinthians. Among some ventilated names, the my helm reported that Cris Gambaré, director of women’s football, is gaining strength for a possible candidacy. The top hat came to the networks to say that he is honored with the speculation, he did not deny the possibility, but assured that his focus is totally on the category.
“It is natural that in an election year, with the political momentum at the club rising, new names and ideas emerge and it is this plurality that makes this moment so special. 2016, I am very happy and honored to have my name linked to such a special and grand position as the Presidency of Corinthians. But it is important to state that my focus remains the direction of Women’s Football and increasingly seek to take the necessary steps for the modality to evolve within the club and in our country with the support of this management and others to come. Go, Corinthians!”, posted Cris Gambaré – check below.
As verified, some factors may be fundamental for the candidacy, such as the success of Corinthians women’s football since the reactivation of the category, in 2016, and the lack of a unanimous name from the current board to seek the presidency.
For someone to be a candidate for the presidency of the club, it is necessary that the member has at least two terms in the Deliberative Council. Cris was in charge between 2006 and 2017, before taking over the women’s board.
Officially, only Augusto Melo has launched himself as a candidate to head Corinthians – the formal launch will be on March 11th. In addition to him, former player Ronaldo Giovanelli emerged as a possible name and even announced his candidacy on his social networks, but deleted the publication. Finally, former president and current director Roberto de Andrade nominated André Luiz de Oliveira, better known as “André Negão”, for the position. Regardless of the name, whoever becomes president of Corinthians will be responsible for the position for the three-year period from 2024 to 2026.
