At the same time as the notice, the victims are also sent a link, which, when clicked, appears to bring up the service provider’s page, where, among other things, the bank card number and verification code (CVC) must be entered, but in fact this page is also connected to the criminals, who use the card data obtained in this way they make abusive referrals and cause damage.
Bence Rétvári drew attention to the question of how to protect oneself against fraud received by phone, SMS and e-mail:
it is important that you never give your bank card or online banking details to strangers, and that no one sends you a copy of your documents.
He pointed out: if the bank managing the account is really looking for the customer, then it is enough to enter the name, place and time of birth, and at most the address. If the call is suspicious, you should immediately disconnect the line and call the bank’s official phone number, he said. He also emphasized that no application should be downloaded at the suggestion of a telephone clerk.
