Rue des Lamineurs, in Le Creusot, on the evening of April 24, 1880. Benoit Petit, Jean Ducloux and Claude Montcharmont, all three workers of Le Creusot, meet in front of the shop of the widow Chauche. The grocer and merchant of Roueneries (coarse painted cotton textiles which were mainly produced in Rouen) alone occupied a main building which housed her house and her shop.
Their goal? Take the widow’s money and her trade goods. To realize their project, they are ready for anything. As the street is not completely deserted, they are as discreet as possible and wait for the right moment to intervene.
