The First Black Sea Security Conference was held in the capital of Romania within the framework of the “International Crimean Platform”, which gathered representatives of more than 50 countries and organizations, reports Ukrinform. Ukraine was represented at the conference by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Emine Japarova and Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov.
At the event, experts from Ukraine, Romania and other participating countries of the “Crimean Platform” discussed the multidimensional impact of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine on the security situation in the Black Sea-Azov region and the world and possible responses to challenges and threats.
The main points of the conference were the discussions “Lessons learned: the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, its multidimensional impact and lessons for the democratic world”, “Plan for today: an immediate response to current threats and challenges in the Black Sea region” and “Future configuration: what is the future of the regional security in the region of the Black and Azov Seas? Towards a Euro-Atlantic strategy for a stable, secure and prosperous region”. They were attended by ministers of foreign affairs and defense, secretaries of state and other high-ranking officials from the participating countries of the “Crimean Platform”, as well as the leadership of international organizations – NATO, the Council of Europe, GUAM and the OSCE.
A tripartite meeting was held on the sidelines of the Black Sea Security Conference in the format of a triangle Ukraine — Romania — Moldova. According to the results of the conference, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania signed the first joint declaration on cooperation, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports. This document covers issues of cooperation in economic issues, infrastructure, defense, culture, security, as well as the process of integration into the European Union of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.
Ukraine, Romania and Moldova will continue to cooperate to support the rights of states to freely choose their foreign policy and alliances, to exercise their right to self-defense, to strengthen stability and stability, security and prosperity in the region.
Since, in addition to an armed attack on Ukraine, Russia is using a variety of hybrid tactics against it and other states aimed at further intimidation, Kyiv, Bucharest and Chisinau intend to cooperate more closely to counter Russian propaganda. The declaration once again emphasized respect for the principle of sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of Moldova and Ukraine.
Romania and Moldova confirmed their readiness to support Ukraine’s initiative for a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace, and also expressed their support for the peace formula of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
