Crimean Parliament Declares Transfer of Crimea to Ukrainian SSR in 1954 Illegal: Judicial and Political Decision Pending

The illegality of the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR in 1954 has been established; now a judicial and political decision must be made on this issue.

About this agency RIA Novosti said on Saturday, April 13, the head of the Crimean parliament Vladimir Konstantinov. He noted that the fact of the illegality of the transfer of the peninsula was justified by a special working group at the Crimean parliament, consisting of experts and lawyers.

The parliamentarian emphasized that the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR had serious consequences in geopolitics. That is why “it is very important to recognize that decision as illegal and criminal.”

Konstantinov also said that a bill to invalidate and illegal the decision to transfer the Crimean region from the RSFSR to the Ukrainian SSR was submitted to the State Duma and posted in the Duma electronic database.

The document notes that the decision to include the peninsula into the Ukrainian SSR has no legal force, since it was made in violation of the Constitution of the RSFSR and the USSR.

As reported EADailyearlier the head of the Crimean parliament said that during the period it was part of Ukraine, the peninsula suffered colossal damage, which will be assessed using a method specially developed for this.
