“Murder at the Old Opera” is the name of the new book by Lutz Ullrich

Schwalbach – Lutz Ullrich did it again: He dealt with a murder, came up with a gripping plot, researched it and wrote a story about it, which is now available hot off the press. “Murder at the Old Opera” is the name of his latest work.

If things go well, he tells this paper, he needs about a year for a book. This time it took a little longer. “If it works, I write about an hour a day, preferably in the morning.” Before you start writing, she already has her main protagonist and her story in basic structures, including the ending, in her head. “Then I’ll write it down from top to bottom.”

Lutz Ullrich is a lawyer and notary, is politically active and also active in club sports. When asked if his day has 48 hours, the Frankfurt native smiles. “No, unfortunately not.” The author, who lives with his family in Schwalbach, takes time out for his hobby whenever possible. Then in the morning he sits down at his laptop and types. He always has real role models or adopts character traits from people he knows. “Some people even recognized themselves. They were happy because I treat them kindly,” he says. But he doesn’t use them for bad guys or really bad killers, he adds.

He likes to read detective stories and historical novels himself, which is why he writes crime novels with a lot of local color. He draws inspiration from reading the newspaper or the news. But his stories always have a real background. His debut ‘The Candidate’ was released in 2009. Since then, the father of the family has been writing the murder stories about him.

This time his Frankfurt thriller is not about his commissioner Tom Bohland. “It’s not out of the series, but a standalone book,” says Ullrich. And that’s what it’s all about: In the late 1980s, politician Achim Hagemann was shot and killed in front of the Alte Oper. The background remains mysterious. 30 years later, the lawyer Wolfgang Hauck dies and his granddaughter is the only one who doesn’t believe in a natural death. well

“Murder at the Old Opera” (ISBN 978-3-946247-298-9) is available in paperback and e-book versions. It is available in bookstores for €10.95.
