Crime scene: First case from Dortmund after the death of Martina Bönisch

The Dortmund crime scene is in upheaval: Inspector Martina Bönisch is dead, Inspector Peter Faber is on sick leave and Inspector Rosa Herzog has to deal with the fact that she was kept alive in a coffin. “The three need to regroup, examine their relationships with each other, reconnect and hopefully find each other again,” explains the director Richard Huber. Not good conditions for a new case, but the world moves on and the crime has no regard for sensitivities.

A large pool of blood is discovered in Dortmund’s Westpark. At the same time, Andreas Richter, the head of a real estate company in Dortmund, is missing. There’s no body, but a lot of people would have a motive to get Richter out of the way forever. He has set himself the task of buying up real estate in the Kreuzviertel and converting rental apartments into luxury properties. Privately, he is about to divorce his wife Natalia, who doesn’t take good care of him.

What does Faber’s father have to do with the case?

In the course of the investigation, Jan and Rosa come across Faber’s father Josef, who hasn’t had any contact with his son for decades. Jörg Hoffmann knows what the meeting with his father triggers in his character “Faber”: “A potpourri of the most ambivalent feelings, initially covered with anger and hatred. Having to deal with his father is just an additional problem for Faber. But at the same time it brings him back to action. Little by little, this encounter uncovers other layers within him. He can’t help but pursue it, he’s drawn to it.”

This time Jörg Hartmann is not only represented as the main actor in the Dortmund crime scene, he also wrote the screenplay for the first case after Bönisch’s death together with Jürgen Werner. Not an easy task for the actor, as he himself admits: “It was a challenge for me to forget the author while playing. When writing, of course, you have every scene in your head, as well as the tone of all the characters and their attitude.

It is very important to free oneself from this, after all everyone involved contributes their passion and creativity, so that any false adherence to one’s own images would be destructive. I always asked Richard Huber, our director, to tell me if I was annoying him. My nervousness and tension during the shoot were definitely higher than usual.”
