Mönchengladbach (dpa / lnw) – Several witnesses are heard today (9.15 a.m.) in the murder trial against an educator at the Mönchengladbach regional court. A 25 year old kindergarten teacher is accused. In April, she is said to have compressed a girl’s chest until she stopped breathing in a daycare center in Viersen. The child later died in the hospital. The trial begins on Tuesday, the fourth day of the trial, to collect evidence of the alleged offenses.
The accused Germans are charged with the murder of the three-year-old Greta and the mistreatment of those under protection in eight other cases. In other daycare centers in Krefeld, Kempen and Tönisvorst, she is said to have tightly pressed children’s chests together, putting their lives at risk. These cases were only known and put into context through the investigation after Greta’s death. The motive for the acts is unclear.
