This Saturday there was an attempted robbery in the town of Usaquén (Bogotá), just one block from the residential complex where a massive apartment theft occurred last week.
On this occasion, six people tried to enter the Unique building, located on Carrera 19 A # 118-34, through the parking lot, to take some bicycles while a resident’s vehicle entered. When the security guard realized what was happening, he closed the door and one of the criminals remained inside.
Right away, the guard kept him with his security stick and called the police. The agents arrived 25 minutes later, says Nelson Ramírez, building administrator, consulted by La FM. Apparently, the soldiers have already identified this gang, because, according to Ramírez, one of the police officers exclaimed “You again” when he saw the detainee.
In addition to this, the administrator explained, the detainee is a minor, and the group to which he belongs is made up of young people like him. Ramírez asks for help to combat thefts in that sector because, he says, there have been several recent reports. “There is a negligence, really, in the area of quadrants and security in the sector, knowing that eight days ago a rather delicate robbery happened: they locked people up.”
Insecurity in Bogotá
Despite the fact that the Bogota City Hall has said that thefts have decreased during the pandemic, in 2020, (except bicycle thefts, which have increased), the massive assault in Usaquén and the robbery of a jewelry store in Gran Estación led to the President Claudia López to convene a security council for last Thursday.
