Crime – Freiburg im Breisgau – suspected child pornography: dozens of preliminary investigations – Panorama

Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – After dozens of searches, the Freiburg police are investigating 53 people on suspicion of possession and distribution of child pornography. The suspects are between 14 and 84 years old, the police said on Tuesday. According to initial findings, there is no concrete connection between them. The investigative proceedings had started following indications from US security authorities.

During the searches of 48 objects in Freiburg and the districts of Lörrach, Emmendingen, Waldshut and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, more than 250 pieces of evidence, including smartphones, tablets and computers, were found on Tuesday. The data carriers would be assessed by specialists from the criminal investigation department. “We will keep up the pressure to investigate in the coming days and months,” said Arno Englen, head of the Freiburg criminal investigation department. “Anyone who owns or distributes such material can expect to be discovered.”
