Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – Investigations into a car accident in Freiburg have brought surprising things to light: The 24-year-old who caused the accident not only did not have a valid driver’s license, but is also said to be responsible for several criminal offenses. The officers were puzzled when they checked the personal details when the accident was recorded on Thursday, as the police announced on Monday. As it turned out, both a driver’s license and a registration certificate from the city of Freiburg that the man was carrying were forged.

According to the police, the accident vehicle that the man had borrowed should not have been insured. The officers found utensils for drawing fuel in the vehicle. A bicycle theft from last spring should also go on the suspect’s hat. Furthermore, the man with forged papers is said to have worked as a courier driver for an online mail order company. Investigations are already underway against him because he embezzled 72 packages that he was supposed to deliver. The accused has been in custody since Friday.
