Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – After a suspected mysterious attack on a man, the police in Freiburg are looking for witnesses. The 43-year-old said he was attacked surprisingly when he tried to give money to a begging man in the city center, the police said on Thursday. The unknown attacker got out of a minibus parked nearby and hit the donor on the head with an object.

The man said he went to the ground on Tuesday evening and lost consciousness. He was maneuvered into the blue minibus and driven around for a while. During this forced trip, two previously unknown men had done violence to the 43-year-old, robbed him of his passport and a three-digit amount of money. The victim suffered abrasions and bruises on the face.

It was initially unclear whether the trip only took place on Freiburg’s streets or in the surrounding area, as a police spokesman said. The man woke up from the unconsciousness at dawn near the Freiburg cannon square early Wednesday morning. The police are now hoping for evidence from witnesses, such as the beggar.
