Freiburg im Breisgau (dpa/lsw) – After the deadly knife attack in Freiburg, the 63-year-old suspect was taken into custody. An arrest warrant for murder had previously been issued, as the public prosecutor’s office and the police headquarters announced on Thursday in Freiburg.
The man is said to have stabbed two women on the open road in western Freiburg early Wednesday morning. A 59-year-old died from the serious injuries. Her 30-year-old daughter, the attacker’s ex-partner, was injured so badly that she was initially unable to be heard. As the investigators have now announced, she is no longer in mortal danger.
The alleged attacker, a German, had already “appeared under criminal law,” the investigators reported. He has not yet made any statement about the fact. The man had been in a relationship with the 30-year-old woman until recently. In connection with the separation, there were police operations – the man was forbidden to approach his ex-partner. The police are now looking for witnesses to the crime.
