In Créteil l’Échat, the long work zone is organized to accommodate the imposing station box, 117 meters long and 25 to 53 meters wide. It is built under rue Gustave Eiffel, where the platforms and the tunnel for line 15 South will also be located.
The site of the future station will act as a departure and arrival shaft for the tunnel boring machines. In October 2019, the tunnel boring machine Camille set off to dig 4.3 km of tunnel to the Salengro structure in Champigny-sur-Marne. It will complete its excavation in July 2021. At the end of the same year, the Marina tunnel boring machine entered the Créteil l’Échat station from the south. Leaving Vitry-sur-Seine in March 2020, on arrival it was dismantled under a bell to limit noise pollution and extracted piece by piece for several months, before being evacuated by exceptional convoys.
On the Grand Paris Express site, the slabs of the access room to the platforms of line 15 South have been completed, while in 2022 the construction of the station’s cover slab will definitively separate the underground spaces from the construction site of the passenger building, on the surface.
At the same time, the commissioning of a second platform in the metro line 8 station, in February 2021, marked the end of the work carried out by the RATP in anticipation of the connection with line 15 South.
