There is no precedent for what happened in Heraklion with the cancellation of the double sacrament of marriage and baptism due to the arrest of the 36-year-old groom, a few hours before the church.
The 36-year-old, as Cretalive.gr wrote, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday, as part of an operation by the TAE Heraklion, following information. Among other things, about 170 grams of cocaine, bullets and a statuette were found in his house.
The 36-year-old was taken, at about 11.30am, to the Prosecutor’s Office of Heraklion on Sunday morning, as was his mother, who was arrested as she reportedly tried to disappear the tapper with the 170 grams of coke to protect her son.
Both were given a deadline to apologize Thursday morning.
The chronicle of the arrest of the 36-year-old and his mother
The police operation took place on the day of the 36-year-old’s wedding, while the couple was also going to baptize their child. In fact, according to Cretalive.gr sources, the best men and groomsmen were not one, not two, not three, but 14.
According to the same sources, it is estimated that at least 900 guests unsuspectingly went to the church, while information indicates that more than 2000 people were locked in the center where the party would take place.
When officers entered the house and found the drugs, the 36-year-old allegedly told them he was getting married and it would all be disastrous….
But it was too late. The 36-year-old was arrested, taken to the Heraklion Police Station and is now facing a very serious crime. Under these conditions, marriage-baptism could not be performed.
It is worth noting that the police also handcuffed the 36-year-old’s mother, who, in her attempt to protect her son and prevent the marriage from falling apart, reportedly tried to disappear the taper with the cocaine, but she was noticed.
The 36-year-old’s apology – What he said about drugs
He himself is in a bad psychological state as everything was “blown up” because of him, while he is facing a very serious accusation.
The defense attorney of the 36-year-old Mr. Giorgos Kokosalis, in communication with Cretalive.gr, emphasized that his principal “is devastated by all that happened”.
He claimed that he is in an extremely bad psychological condition as due to an indiscretion, he turned the greatest joy of himself and his family into sadness and disappointment.
“Anyone can perceive, he said, how this man might feel. What happened is for him the greatest punishment, but, unfortunately, his loved ones “paid” for it and he cannot forgive himself. He humbly apologizes to all and hundreds of people who had come to the sacrament, awaiting its performance. They had not been informed…”.
Mr. Kokosalis maintained that the quantity of cocaine was exclusively for the personal use of his principal and the appropriate explanations will be given competently, while he described the 36-year-old as a very sociable person and particularly well-liked.
