Crescent Star Party (PBB) Registers Prospective Legislative Candidates for 2024 Election

The Crescent Star Party (PBB) has officially registered its prospective legislative candidates (bacaleg) with the KPU. UN chief Yusril Ihza Mahendra also running as a candidate for members of the DPR RI from the East Jakarta constituency (dapil).

“Yes, I have been officially registered today as a candidate for DPR RI from East Jakarta and it depends on further developments, yes, because the registration for the presidential election is in October,” Yusril Ihza told reporters at KPU RI, Central Jakarta, Saturday (13/5/2023).

Then, what if it turns out that someone took him as cawapres?

“If I, for example, yes, later I can run as a pair of presidential candidates (candidates), yes, of course, the status of a candidate for a member of the DPR will be suspended by itself, because you can’t be concurrent like that, even though the elections are held together,” he said. This was conveyed by Yusril to answer the question what if he was proposed as Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate.

“But that’s still uncertain. So we’ll just wait,” he continued.

Previously, the UN officially registered the prospective legislative candidates for the 2024 election with the Indonesian KPU. The UN Legislative Council includes UN Secretary General Yusril Ihza Mahendra, UN Secretary General Afriansyah Noor, and Yusril’s son, Yuri Kemal Fadlullah.

“We have just submitted the list of candidates for DPR RI to the KPU, of which all 580 registered candidates have fulfilled 100 percent of the applicable provisions and today have been well received by KPU Chair Hasyim Asy’ari,” said UN Secretary Yusril Ihza Mahendra during a press conference at the KPU RI office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Saturday (13/5).

UN Secretary General Afriansyah Noor said there were 580 Legislatures from various electoral districts registered. He claimed that women’s representation reached 40 percent.

“If our composition has met the target of more than 30 percent, we are almost 40 percent according to our quota and hopefully we can find these female candidates and can become trustworthy people’s representatives in the DPR RI,” said Afriansyah Noor.

“There are several figures, but indeed we are prioritizing UN cadres who appear, including the General Chair who also appear in East Jakarta, DKI 1 electoral area. Then myself (Afriansyah), run for Bogor Regency, West Java electoral district 5. Then Mr. Yusril’s son advances in Bangka Belitung, Deputy Secretary General Azanil Kelana advanced in West Java 10, Pak Norman Zainal in West Sumatra 1, and many more that we cannot mention one by one,” he continued.
