The screen adaptation of Finkis and Patricia’s song “Rocket Science” was recognized as the best video, the group “Sudden Lights” from their concert in Mežaparks Green Theater won the best concert recording, and the group “Singapore Satin” won in the category “Album Design” for the appearance of the album “Super”.
Last year’s song “Aija” by the group “Sudden Lights” was the most streamed record on various platforms, but singer Mika Galvanovska’s “Par savu zemi vačet” was recognized as the song of the year in the citizens’ vote.
In the “Radio hits” category, the singer Don won with the song “Divatā”. When evaluating the most played songs, Latvian radio stations that play music created in Latvia are taken into account, and the most played songs are multiplied by the radio stations’ ratings according to the frequency of their playing. The entries recorded, registered and played in the period from December 2, 2022 to December 1, 2023 were eligible for the “Radio hit” award.
The group “Credo” was honored with an award for lifetime contribution to the development of Latvian music at the award ceremony on Friday evening. This year, the group celebrates its 50th anniversary. Its members are Guntis Veits, Armands Alksnis, Aivars Vīksna and Gundars Lintiņš.
The founder of the group “Credo” is the bass guitarist Valdis Skujiņš, who started rehearsing on October 4, 1974 with the singer Gina Burkevici and the guitarist Aivars Liepiņas. During the 50 years of its existence, at different times, the group included Werner Bokums, Valērijs Kosminins, Irēna Burkēvice, Viktors Dreimanis, Raivis Krūms, Aldis Langbaums, Guntars Brechs, Eduards Glotovs, Guntars Endzelis and others.
A total of 478 applications – 163 albums, 134 songs, 120 video clips, 46 debutantes and 15 concert recordings in video format – were submitted for the evaluation of the “Zelta mikrofons’24” award this year.
