Credito Real fails to pay BNP Paribas for a $50 million loan

For the second time so far this year, Crédito Real failed to make a payment, this time for a loan of 50 million dollars with the financial institution BNP Paribas, although it did make the interest payment.

In a statement sent to the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV), the multiple purpose financial companies (Sofom) indicated that it continues evaluating alternatives to achieve an orderly restructuring process in order to prioritize the continuity of operations.

“Crédito Real announces that, on April 22, 2022, the company did not make the principal payment, however, the interest payment of a loan for 50 million dollars was made, which was payable in full to BNP Paribas.

In February, the company announced that it would enter a restructuring process with its creditors, after failing to comply with a payment of 170 million dollars.

Meanwhile, at the beginning of June, Crédito Real reported that in its restructuring process it was considering all the alternatives that would preserve the value and continuity of its operations, including Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Law.

In this sense, he specified that the process is still advancing, but that definitive decisions regarding the restructuring have not yet been made.

“All alternatives that preserve value are being evaluated by the company and its team of advisors, including the restructuring process of Chapter 11 of the applicable law of the United States,” he said in a statement to the Mexican stock market.
