Beneficiaries of the credit moratorium are threatened with the debt trap once it expires.
–
The LMP sees “the government’s unsatisfactory communication” on this matter as a “serious risk”. The green-alternative opposition party fears that the banks will reap the benefits with government approval. Several hundred thousand families had suspended the repayment of their loans last summer on the advice of the government, without having been informed of the exact conditions. “Where was the central bank as a financial regulator, where was its president György Matolcsy?” – asked parliamentary group vice-president Antal Csárdi at an online press conference on Thursday. The official communication was about the moratorium causing no additional burdens. In fact, whoever z. B. suspended payments for ten months, now depending on the credit structure, have to pay off his loan 14-30 months longer.
