In the main building of the University of Bern, installations have to be adapted to current standards and regulations and fire protection measures have to be renewed.
The government council has approved a loan of CHF 9.4 million for the attention of the Grand Council. In addition, structural defects will be remedied and various rooms such as lecture halls and the cafeteria will be adapted to the current requirements of teaching and learning, as the Bernese building department announced on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
In order to disrupt university operations as little as possible, construction will be carried out in three stages, each mainly in the summer, during the semester break.
