“Who hasn’t found a wounded bird under their window or along a road? Who hasn’t found a weakened baby bird, at the mercy of the first cat? Who hasn’t felt helpless in front of an animal? Since 2007, several thousand wild animals have been revalidated at the CREAVES of the Virelles Aquascope! House sparrow, song thrush, great woodpecker, kestrel, gray cuckoo, hedgehog, merillon falcon, black stork, badger, squirrel, eagle owl … and even grass snake have passed through the CREAVES box for a little fitness! “ note l’Aquascope.
In 2020, 750 animals were received at the center: this figure has already been reached in 2021 while there are three months left before the end of the year. “The growing notoriety of CREAVES de Virelles generates a constantly increasing number of arrivals”, which leads to this need for reinforcements.
To apply, the CREAVES of Aquascope Virelles is looking for volunteers:
- who already have knowledge of avifauna or / and medical or paramedical experience
- which are available at least 2 days per month
- who live in the Chimay region or within a radius of around thirty kilometers around Virelles.
Applications accompanied by a cover letter should be sent before 10/09 to the address [email protected]. Theoretical and practical courses will be given to volunteers so that they can accomplish their missions.
