Creators explain why important scene was missing in Bridgerton

Attention: This article contains spoilers about the second season of Bridgerton!

In the second season of Bridgerton we see how Anthony falls for Kate, but in the meantime also has wedding plans with Kate’s sister Edwina. It even comes to the point where Anthony and Edwina stand together in front of the altar. The wedding is called off at the last minute and Anthony eventually marries Kate. All’s well that ends well, you might think. But viewers are disappointed that Kanthony is skipped.

Producer and showrunner Chris van Dusen now explains why the wedding ceremony cannot be seen in the series. The makers of Bridgerton were afraid that Anthony and Kate’s wedding day would be dwarfed by Anthony and Edwina’s. Anthony and Edwina’s extravagant wedding day was arranged by Queen Charlotte. “She wouldn’t do that again.”

And then, according to the creator of the series, there was another important reason: “The bond between Kate and Edwina also plays a role. The story of their sister love is actually just as important as the story of the love between Kate and Anthony.”
