Under a kiosk, Julien*, Gilles*, Yann* and Freddy* offer tea, coffee, pain au chocolat, croissants and other delicacies. Welcome to “Oklm Shop”, a tea room unlike any other. Behind the stand, the micro-entrepreneurs usually have their friends: inmates from the detention center at the Port.
“We wanted to create a space where inmates could ‘have a good time’, hence our name, our slogan and the products we offer,” explains Freddy. Here, his role is to ensure the sale, manage the stocks and carry out the inventory. “I didn’t know this universe at all, I’m happy to have learned all that!”
Every Thursday afternoon, the dalons offer their colleagues the opportunity to take a break from their daily lives. “No conviviality in prison, but, with the coffee shop, we all have access to good times”, says Gilles.
For Julien, this experience is an opportunity to prepare for the day after. “I have a commercial CAP and the creation of this micro-enterprise can help me get out”, he testifies. A pride for his little sister, Larissa*, who came to visit him. “I’m happy to see that he is moving forward despite everything, it’s reassuring,” she says.
A project supported by National Education and the EPA association
Once a week, since September, the micro-entrepreneurs follow this educational project of the teaching unit of the establishment.
