A crazy March week awaits us, warn Meteo Balkans.
In the first days of the new week, the minimum temperatures will remain low, but the weather is expected to improve. The maximum degrees in the country will go up. However, cold spells and new snowfalls are expected by Wednesday-Thursday, and temperatures will drop again by the end of the week.
Weather on Monday
The expected minimum temperatures in the country on Monday will be from minus 7 ° С to minus 4 ° С, and traditionally lower will remain in the mountainous regions and valleys of Western Bulgaria, Srednogorie and Southern Bulgaria – up to minus 9-10 ° С. Slightly higher along the Black Sea coast and along the Danube river – up to minus 3 ° С
The first day of the new week in most parts of the country will start with sunny weather. Only over the extreme eastern regions will it be partly cloudy. A light wind from the north-northeast will blow. Maximum temperatures will rise and will be between 6-10 ° C. The highest will be in the northwestern regions and southwestern Bulgaria – up to 10-11 ° C, and the lowest – in the Upper Thracian lowlands and along the Black Sea coast.
Weather on Tuesday and Wednesday
The weather will improve across the country on Tuesday. The clouds will break everywhere by noon and the weather in the country will be mostly sunny. The wind will weaken, and in some parts of Southeastern Bulgaria it will turn from the southwest. Temperatures will gradually rise and the maximum in the whole country will be between 9-12 ° С. They will be highest in Northwestern and Southwestern Bulgaria – up to 13-14 ° С.
Worsening weather is expected from Wednesday. On the night before Wednesday from the northwest will increase clouds, will be mostly medium and high and no precipitation is expected. During the day the weather in the country will be mostly cloudy and in many places from northwest to southeast it will start to rain. The wind in the country will be weak from the west, in the afternoon it will gradually orient from the northeast and with it cold air will start to invade.
With the decrease of temperatures in the Fore-Balkans and in places in Northeastern Bulgaria the precipitations will turn into wet snow. Ice on the high fields of Western and Central Bulgaria is not excluded. More significant rainfall is expected in Central and Southeastern Bulgaria. The minimum temperatures will be between minus 5 and minus 2 ° С, and the daily ones – in most parts of the country will be between 6-12 ° С. They will be lower in the mountainous regions, the Fore-Balkans and North-Western Bulgaria – up to 3-5 ° С.
IN Thursday scattered clouds will prevail, and the east wind will gradually intensify. Temperatures will drop significantly and in the coming days the minimum will be between minus 9 ° and minus 3 °, and the maximum – between 0 ° and 5 °.
Through weekend the weather situation will again be similar to last week. It will remain with variable clouds and in places with frequent snowfalls.
The reason for the bad weather is an anticyclone positioned over European Russia and Ukraine. Bulgaria and its neighboring countries will fall into an area with a large pressure gradient. Colder air from the northeast will continue to be transported to our country and temperatures will drop.
The coldest days of the coming week will be Friday Saturday and Sunday. Then the weather will stay with variable clouds and windy. Light snowfall is possible only in some places, mainly in mountainous areas. Morning temperatures in many places will be around minus 10 ° С – minus 6 ° С, and the daily ones in some areas will remain a little around zero.
